What is your background and how did you get into photography?

My first camera was a Kodak point and shoot film camera given to me by my parents for my 12th birthday. This was way before the ‘digital era’, (yes, I’m showing my age).

When I met my husband, he had a Canon SLR Film camera, kit lenses and a natural eye for taking nice images. I picked it up and started taking photos – I wanted to be better than he was!

I was such a terrible photographer, I had no idea about composition, lighting or settings… what I did have was a desire to learn and from there I read lots of photography books, I took photos all the time and I kept practicing. Continue reading Photographer Spotlight – Sheryn Ellis Photographer

What is your background and how did you get into photography?

I remember being given a camera in the early years of primary school, so I guess the interest started there.
But it wasn’t until the family got our first digital camera right before a camping road trip around Australia when I was in grade 9 that I really got into it more.

Gold and Silver at the 2015 National Printing & Craftsmanship Awards

As you may know this last weekend we recently went down to Sydney for the PrintEx/Visual Impact Expo and the National Printing and Craftsmanship Awards.

It was a huge night. The icons of the industry were there. All the big players competing for Gold!

2015 National PICA Awards

The National Awards is the best of the best in the Printing Industry from around the country. There were just under 800 entries in total that are judged by a panel of expert Industry Judges to award the winners. There was approximately 500 who attended the Awards Ceremony and Dinner.

I must say there were a few moments when we felt like the David amongst the Goliaths of the Industry! haha 🙂

Mr & Mrs InkFX 🙂
We had a couple of entries in 2 different categories. Speciality Printing and Wide Format Printing.

Silver First

The first category that came up for us was the Wide Format category which we won a SILVER Medal in. I was very pleased with that result amidst such tough competition.

And the Winner is…

Our next category that came up was the Speciality Printing category. This is the Category that we won the Gold for in the Queensland State PICA Awards late last year.
To say we were a little nervous hearing this one announced was a massive understatement. Either way, Bronze…Silver…and then Gold to Ink FX Printing!! Oh Yeah!!!

What is more important to your clients?

price-or-value

Price 18%
Quality 34%
Value for Money 48%

Keeping in mind this is from your perspective which may be different to what is important to your clients but it’s interesting to see what you thought was important to your clients. Continue reading Price, Quality or Value for Money

Site issues (with our E-Commerce Store)

frustrated-faceThis is more of a service update. We’re currently experiencing issues with our BigCommerce.com store.

Impact: product pages are displaying blank pages.

We have been in touch with BigCommerce multiple times and they’re currently working on the issue. We will advise as soon as it is resolved. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Update: 7:50am – Just spoke to the developer team at BigCommerce and they have said they have fixed the issue and are now testing the fix, once testing is completed and 100% satisfactory they will be deploying the fix. Our site should be updated very soon – fingers crossed.

Update: 9:44am – Site is now back working and fully operational!
